“a life which unfolds itself,’ one which goes on developing from hour to hour, even from minute to minute…” Dr. Maria Montessori
Around the age of 2 ½ to 3 years old, children are developmentally ready to expand their first home environment to a larger school environment. Socially, they are ready for more opportunities to interact with others outside of the home. Intellectually, they have become conscious enough to be introduced to more challenging concepts. This is the perfect age to come to a Montessori primary environment!
Here children will find a highly trained Montessori teacher and assistant to guide them through an individualized curriculum so that they may learn at their own pace, with deep respect given for their learning style and developmental interests.
The classroom is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 until 12 for all children. When the teacher and the parents feel that a child is socially, academically, and physically ready for a longer day (around 4 ½ to 5 years), he or she will then stay in what is called extended day from 8:30 until 2:45. Here, the more mature child has the opportunity to have lunch and to continue his or her work with the teacher and small group of older children.
