• Our three children (fifteen, fourteen, and nine years old now) started their academic education at Northwood Montessori when they were three. It gave them a very strong foundation for their future education, teaching them the love of learning, yearning for discovery, and perseverance to master skills in a loving environment. We looked through many schools before deciding on Northwood Montessori.

It is a unique setting in which highly-qualified teachers guide children in a soft-spoken and predictable atmosphere which gives kids the opportunity to use their freedom within well-established limits to make wise decisions, to treat others kindly, as well as to master self-discipline and skills according to their own psychological development. Our children, now in high school, middle school, and elementary still remember with a smile the moveable alphabet, bird watching, the quiet lunch times outdoors, and the Festival of Nations.

They still keep in touch with friends they made during those early years at Northwood and love to go back and visit their old teachers whenever they can. As parents, we look back with nostalgia to those years at Northwood, and feel eternally grateful for having had the opportunity of such a fine education during those influential years in our children’s lives. It definitively made an enormous difference!

    The Moctezuma Family

  • Our daughter attended Northwood Montessori School four years which provided a secure learning environment like home. This school showed her how to develop the tools of understanding and analysis that can be applied in all areas personally and academically. The teachers from Northwood Montessori offer invaluable education showing respect and affection at all times while demonstrating to the students that even at such a young age they can act responsibly.  I have always said, “the world would be a much better place if we had more teachers like the Northwood teachers.”

Like always good things must come to an end, but our family has left this small school with the fondest memories and friendships that we will cherish always. As for our daughter, she has departed to 1st Grade with advanced preparation in reading, writing, mathematics, geography, cultural experiences, and last but not least, respect and love.

  • ...Emma attended Northwood four years, from 3 to 6 years old.

She transitioned into a public school and her 1st grade teacher asked how her perspective could be so unique.

And she spent her last two years of elementary in the Gifted & Talented program, when Mom and Dad never even had to tell her to do her homework.

Thanks for nourishing her independence, Northwood!

PS: She made all As all four years of elementary school, per her 4th grade STAAR test is in the top 1% of Texas readers, and now she’s excited to be a violinist in her 5th grade school orchestra.
